2022 Board Candidates

Following are a list of individuals who are willing to serve on the Board of Directors for a three-year term. At this time five board of director positions are available. when you are ready, please cast your vote.

Tana Bryant

Copper Storage Management

Tana Bryant spent 18 years in various roles of Operations with National Storage Affiliates. She was responsible for more than 2 million square feet of rentable space but mostly enjoyed the Acquisitions, Training and Development aspects of her position as Regional Manager as she transitioned multiple stores into NSA’s portfolios. Tana served as an active member, board member and participant of multiple committees for the NC Self Storage Association as well. Her passion for self storage and the many facets of successful operations drives her desire to continue to give back to the industry. Tana has most recently joined up with Copper Storage Management in her role as Operations Manager to continue her enthusiasm for helping others in our industry!

Toren Bensonhaver

Pinnacle Storage

Toren Bensonhaver began his career in the Storage Industry in the fall of 2019. He has quickly gained extensive knowledge in various aspects of the storage industry, working hands-on with the management and operations teams, and currently serves as a Regional Manager with Pinnacle Storage.

He is a vital part of the leadership team that works closely with each of the facilities. Toren is enthusiastic about the storage industry and feels very fortunate to have such vast exposure from experienced mentors to help him on his journey.

He loves being responsible for leading the opening of new facilities and watching those facilities thrive and grow to maturity. His favorite part of working in storage is meeting and helping customers and mentoring and educating facility managers.

Christina Cochran

Columbia Self Storage

Christina Cochran has been an assistant property manager/property manager for five years & is in the process of learning all aspects of the business. She currently maintains the property and enjoys a great repour with the tenants.

Tami Johnson

Absolute Storage Management

Before starting her career in storage with Absolute Storage Management Tami Johnson managed a music school for children and adults. Tami started as an assistant property manager with Absolute in 2018 and quickly found a love for the self-storage industry.

A mother of five children, and grandmother to three, Tami enjoys time with her family and friends, live music, cooking, and anything on the water.

Stephanie Winfree

Interstate Storage

Stephanie Winfree oversees the successful operations of two facilities in Greenville, SC totaling 115,000 NRSF.  During her 18 years in the industry, she has had experience in daily operations, ground-up development, and implementation and execution of marketing strategies for new facility lease-up.  In addition to self-storage, Stephanie runs her own business services concierge company, and coordinates for La Jolla Property Management’s multiple commercial and residential properties.

As a current board member and Past-President of the South Carolina Self Storage Association (SCSSA), Stephanie continues to be an active leader focusing on education and event organization. Winfree coordinates the education provided at the association’s quarterly meetings and oversees the online education content. She has served as a key committee member for the state expo for the last eight years and is currently serving as the VP of Education.  Prior to coming to the self-storage industry, she spent 11 years in sales and management roles within the automotive industry.

Jeanette Spurlock

Myrtle Beach Storage and Business Center

Jeanette is a long-term member of the South Carolina Self Storage Association joining the board of directors in 2017.  Her background includes mentorships and/or management in Tourism, Financing, Boating, and Property Management industries.  In 2020, she received her certification as a Life Coach and offers guidance and planning assistance to those who have hit roadblocks and need a fresh perspective.  She currently manages a Premier Storage and Business Center in Myrtle Beach and sits as Vice President of the SCSSA.

Jeanette’s love for the storage industry is part of who she is, and it is her goal to continue learning and sharing with those that work in, or plan to work in, the industry. She believes in the Storage Association’s efforts, across this country, to instill good work ethics and best practices. She is a team player that can be depended upon to do what is right and to set the example of who we are as a body.

If selected, it would be her pleasure to continue to serve the members of the South Carolina Self Storage Association.

Billie Underbrink

Storage on 101

Billie Underbrink has come full circle in her 20-year career in the self-storage industry. She started a security business in 2004 with her husband of 27 years that specialized in providing security technology for the self-storage industry.  Access Control Technologies quickly became the largest security integrator in the self-storage industry.

Billie is an entrepreneur at heart and aside from the thriving security business, she also raised four children with her husband, owned and managed three car washes, an HVAC company and a metal fabrication shop. In 2021, as CEO of Access Control Technologies, Billie sold ACT to Janus International and built her first storage facility, Storage on 101 located in Greer, SC. Billie remains on staff with Janus and continues to thrive in the self-storage industry as a vendor and an owner.

Dennis Williams

Rinkydink Self Storage

I am the husband to Mayor Kimberly P. Williams of New Ellenton, SC, and father to five wonderful children; Macey, Ashley, Jackson, Aliah and Trent.  I am a licensed Pastor with the South Carolina International Pentecostal Holiness Church and an avid Sportsman.  I am the owner of Rindydink Self Storage located in Orangeburg, SC and Clayton, AL and I am an entrepreneur who owns and operates Rinkydink Services, Rinkydink Properties and Rinkydink Vending. 

Stephen Makepeace

Go for It Self Storage

Stephen Makepeace has been in the storage industry for more than 20 years. He has worked for both large corporations and small independent businesses. Most recently he and a colleague created the Go Store It brand. They begab with two locations in March of 2017 and now have more than 85 with plans for more.
